✉️ SMS Sorter

Privacy-First SMS Organizer Application
Privacy Policy | Effective Date: June 19, 2026

1. Introduction

At SMS Sorter, we are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our Android mobile application collects, uses, stores, and protects your information. SMS Sorter is designed from the ground up as a local-first, offline-first utility.

Unlike traditional messaging organizers, SMS Sorter does not use any cloud servers, databases, or sync APIs in this version. Your message data is stored and processed locally on your physical device. We do not transmit your messages, contacts, or notification details to ourselves or any third parties.

Core Privacy Guarantee

All SMS classification, sorting, spam filtering, and reminder scheduling are executed entirely on-device. SMS Sorter has no cloud backend, does not transmit message data over the network, and contains zero user analytics or ad tracking SDKs.

2. Information We Collect

To provide the application's core functionality, SMS Sorter requests access to specific data on your device. The table below outlines what we access and why:

Permission / Data How it is Used Storage Status
SMS Access Required to read and display incoming SMS messages. The classification engine runs on these messages to sort them into Personal, Transaction, Promotion, or OTP tabs. On-Device Only
Contacts Access Optional. Used strictly to resolve saved contact names and display them in message threads and notifications instead of raw phone numbers. On-Device Only
Notifications Used to trigger sound alerts, status bar badges, and reminders for incoming messages. On-Device Only
Alarms / Reminders Used to schedule time-based reminders attached to specific SMS messages. On-Device Only

3. How We Use Information

Any device permissions granted are used solely to run the app's features:

⚡ On-Device Sorting

Your incoming SMS texts are processed locally by an internal classification algorithm. The app categorizes them without sending the body text online.

🔔 Real-Time Alerts

Notifications are triggered on your phone to inform you of newly classified messages or upcoming task reminders.

⏰ Reminder Scheduling

The app schedules local alarms to alert you about bill payments, tasks, or follow-ups linked to your chats.

🗑️ Trash Retention

Deleted messages are stored locally in a temporary Trash directory for recovery before permanent deletion.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your messages, reminder logs, and app settings are stored locally on your device in a secure private database (Room/SQLite framework). This directory is isolated by the Android OS sandboxing security model, meaning other apps cannot access this database without authorization.

Data retention:

5. Third-Party Services

SMS Sorter does not integrate with third-party advertising, analytics, or behavioral tracking SDKs (such as Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, or Facebook SDK). We do not collect telemetry, crash reports, or device fingerprinting identifiers.

6. User Rights

Since all data resides on your phone, you have complete control over its deletion. You can:

7. Children’s Privacy

SMS Sorter is not designed for or directed at children under the age of 13. Since we do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information, we do not knowingly capture or process any data related to children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about our local data handling practices.
